Dynamic Place Awards 2001

In 2001 Taigh Chearsabhagh won a Dynamic Place Award in the category 'People, Training and Development'. The judges said that Taigh Chearsabhagh was: "A dynamic and exciting local focus combining access to education with a tourist attraction, visitor amenity, cafe and shop to create a dynamic focus for the area." The award was presented to Grace Beaton on behalf of Taigh Chearsabhagh and project architect Donald McDonald by Bob Millar, Chief Executive of Communities Scotland at an award ceremony in Glasgow. Dynamic Place Awards are sponsored by Scottish Enterprise, Communities Scotland and Miller Ventures.

BURA Award 2001

In 2001 Taigh Chearsabhagh won the BURA award for Community Development. This prestigious national award was presented to Wendy Ingledew, Helen McDonald and John MacLeod on behalf of Taigh Chearsabhagh by Lord Jenkin at a ceremony at The House of Lords. link to BURA website

Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland Commendation

In 1998 Taigh Chearsabhagh gained a commendation for the excellence of the design of the 'Sea/Sky Chamber' at Sponish, Lochmaddy, by artist Chris Drury. Following a visit to the chamber the award judges stated that it: "has a timeless quality and harmonises with the surrounding rocks and shore."

Scottish Environmental Award 'Nature's Prize'

In 1997 Taigh Chearsabhagh won the Scottish Environmental Award category 'Enjoying the Natural Heritage' for its programme of exhibitions and workshops to explore the theme 'The Land'. The bronze Golden Eagle statue was presented to manager Norman MacLeod by Donnie Munro at Grampian Television Studios in Aberdeen. The award is a joint initiative between Scottish Natural Heritage, Shell UK and Grampian Television.

Community Enterprise Award

In 1994 Taigh Chearsabhagh won The Times/Touche Ross Community Enterprise Award for community buildings, presented by Prince Charles at an award ceremony in the Granada studios in Manchester. Community Enterprise Awards are run by Business in the Community and recognise the achievements of people who improve the quality of life in their community.
