| HISTORY
The Uist Arts Association was formed in 1989 and currently has 125 members. About half the members are practising artists, either amateur or professional. Others are interested in supporting the arts, attending exhibitions and talks.
The UAA is a partner with Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath (North Uist Historical Society) in running Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Arts Centre.
Taigh Chearsabhagh Trust is a registered charity whose aims include the promotion of the arts in Uist. The arts activities, workshops and exhibitions at Taigh Chearsabhagh are planned by the UAA in consultation with the Taigh Chearsabhagh staff.
Taigh Chearsabhagh also has facilities for artists: photographic darkroom, screenprinting and etching equipment. To use these facilities you can join the Taigh Chearsabhagh Artist Users Group - contact Norman Macleod at Taigh Chearsabhagh (01876 500 293).
