Children & Young People Programme
We aim to reach all areas of the community. Working with schools and community groups is a successful way of doing this, so please get in touch regarding any possible workshops or projects with your school or group.

Every school in the Uists has now been to Taigh Chearsabhagh, some on a number of occasions, and every school in the Uists & Barra have had workshops at their school. Developing this relationship with schools is an ongoing priority.

Worksheets and practical workshops, using a variety of mediums, help the children and young people to interpret the work displayed in the exhibitions.

Regular classes such as the term time Saturday Art Classes held at Taigh Chearsabhagh continue. There are two classes, Class 1 is for ages 5-8 year olds and is held between 1& 2pm, and class 2 is for ages 9-18 and is held between 2.30 and 4pm. This gives youngsters a chance to try their hand at a huge range of art techniques, from ceramics to mono and lino printing and from paper-maiche to photography. South Uist also benefits from regular Art classes, which are held in Talla Chidhe, Lochboisdale. Classes are held over 4 week periods in March, June & November. Class 1 for ages 5-8 is between 1 and 2pm and class 2 for ages 9-18 is between 2.15 - 3.30pm. All of these classes cost £1.
