Great News! We have finally been able, through your most generous donations to the crowdfunding campaign, to digitise the Berneray 8mm archive film collection to a superb 4k definition quality. We have been delighted to have been able to show Gloria MacKillop the fantastic footage of her 1968 wedding which she has never seen before. She was enthralled!
The 8mm colour films, shot over two decades (1960 -78) by Bill & Ann Scott during almost annual family holidays in Berneray, document many aspects of island life at that time inclusing sheep shearing on Pabbay to the arrival of the coal boat.
The film will be screening in a loop in Gallery 2 till Saturday 17th May and thereafter on demand in the Archive Viewing Facility in Taigh Chearsabhagh by appointment. Contact Andy Mackinnon at [email protected] for more information.
If you were living in Berneray between 1960-78 and think you could identify people and places in the films please do get in touch.
