The Spirit of Uist Women – Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

The fantastic banner (as featured in the Observer) made by over 25 participants led by Deirdre Nelson is now on display in gallery 1 till 26 May. We are inviting women from Uist who have not already done so to add their names to fabric strips which will then be embroidered and added as streamers to the banner – enquire at reception.

On Sunday June 10th in Edinburgh, it becomes part of a great moving artwork celebrating women throughout Britain where women and girls in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London will walk together as part of this celebratory mass participation artwork. Wearing either green, white or violet, the colours of the suffrage movement, the PROCESSIONS will appear as a flowing river of colour through the city streets.

We are now fundraising to enable a group of women from Uist to travel to Edinburgh with our banner to join this unique nationwide event.
