Sound Walk Launch

Our Unexpected Garden musician in residence Duncan MacLeod, has created a series of geolocative sound walks in North Uist and Benbecula. Combining original compositions, sounds from nature and spoken word, these sonic trails evoke a sense of place that draws upon the isle’s natural environment, rich cultural history and agricultural practices.

Developed in partnership with the local community, these soundwalks feature contributions from individuals, community groups, and archival recordings from the School of Scottish Studies that stretch back over 70 years. To listen to the Lionacleit Soundwalk, click here or download the Echoes app on your device and search for Benbecula.

In this launch event, Duncan will give a short introductory talk and guide listeners around the soundwalk. To experience the soundwalk, attendees will need to download the free app Echoes on their smartphone. A selection of wired and Bluetooth headphones will be made available. Headphone adaptors and splitter cables are also available for those who wish to share their smartphone.  Meet at the College carpark next to Sgoil Lionacleit.

This event is free to attend but you can book a place using the online booking system below.  If you would like to support our continued programming and enable us to keep offering free events, please consider making a donation to Taigh Chearsabhagh.
