All classes are delivered as part of Lews Castle College UHI’s full time NC Art & Design or BA Fine Art courses.

Introduction to Sculptural Ceramics – 2 days – £60
18 & 19 Sept, 9am – 4.30pm
Learning a variety of hand-building ceramic techniques and exploring the qualities of different types of clay. Materials provided.
Painting: Water-Based – Introduction – 2 days or complete module* – £60
17 & 18 September, 9am – 4.30pm
Exploring painting approaches and colour with acrylic and watercolour to develop skills and confidence. Studio based.
Painting: Watercolour Exploration – Intermediate – 2 days – £60
10 & 12 September, 9am – 4.30pm
Suitable for those with some experience in painting, this workshop will encourage experimentation and introduce a range of approaches in painting with water colour. Studio and outdoors (weather dependant)
Painting: Introduction to Oil Painting – Intermediate – 3 days – £80
17,18,19 September, 9am – 4.30pm
Suitable for those with some experience in painting, you will explore the qualities of oil paint, developing skills and approaches while reinforcing observation and response. Studio and outdoors (weather dependant)
Moving Image: Experimental Film Making – 2 days – £60
3 & 4 October, 9am – 4.30pm
Introduction to experimental film making with artist Rosie Roberts. Requirements: Mobile phone capable of capturing films. Notebook.
Exploratory Mixed Media – Introduction – 2 days or complete module* – £60
5 & 6 November, 9am – 4.30pm
Using mixed media drawing to gather observational information and developing surfaces and textures.

Figure Drawing – 4 half days over 4 weeks – £60
11, 18 Nov and 2, 9 December, Mondays 1.30-4.30pm
Observational drawing from the model will introduce or strengthen drawing skills and explore a range of media and approaches. Studio based.
Printmaking – Introduction – 2 days or complete module* – £60
3 & 4 December, 9am – 4.30pm
Monoprinting and lino print – Introduction.
Basic skills and lots experimentation with these two very accessible printmaking methods.
Printmaking: Collagraph – 3 days – £80
16, 17, 18 December, 9am – 4.30pm
Introduction to this very versatile printmaking method. From drawings, you will develop ideas and experiments for print using the print workshop facilities.
