Cearcall a’ Chuain [the ocean’s cycle]

This year’s annual Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath exhibition Cearcall a’ Chuain [ the ocean’s cycle] explores the fascinating theme of the sea and stories about the waters that surround our island.

The exhibition will include cases of sea related objects as well as the amazing collection of model boats from the Reverent Donald MacQuarrie.

Information panels in the museum will give information on:

  • The earliest history of travel by boats to the island.
  • Objects and messages washed ashore including three St Kilda mailboats.
  • The History of Caledonian MacBrayne.
  • The history of the Herring Industry and the ups and downs of the seaweed industry in North Uist.

Cearcall a Chuain opens in March 2017.
