Taigh Chearsabhagh Trust is seeking new Trustees and potentially a new Chair to join our Board to help shape the future of one of Scotland’s most distinctive centres for arts, heritage and Gaelic culture.
Our Board
Our Board brings together people with a wide range of skills, knowledge and lived experience. Trustees provide strategic leadership and good governance, supporting the Director and staff team while helping to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the organisation.
We are proud to have expertise across the arts, culture, Gaelic language and heritage, alongside professional experience in areas such as finance, law, marketing and the media. As we look to the future, we are keen to broaden the diversity of perspectives and experience across the board.
Based in Lochmaddy, North Uist, Taigh Chearsabhagh is a vibrant hub for contemporary arts, heritage and Gaelic culture. We deliver an ambitious programme of exhibitions, residencies, learning and community activity while also operating important community services including a café, Post Office, shop and media facilities.
We are particularly keen to strengthen our Board with people who can bring experience or insight in one or more of the following areas:
- Chairing or governance
- Human Resources
- Financial management
- Youth work
- Scottish history and heritage
- Artistic practice with an international perspective
We also welcome applications from people who are passionate about culture and community. Previous board experience is helpful but not essential.
As a Trustee, you will contribute to:
- Strategic direction and governance
- Supporting the organisation, its Director and staff team
- Championing Gaelic culture, creativity and inclusion
- Ensuring Taigh Chearsabhagh continues to thrive for future generations

Commitment
The Board meets regularly throughout the year, with opportunities to attend both online and in person. This is a voluntary Trustee role, and reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed.
