Join the board at Taigh Chearsabhagh!

We are looking for 3-4 new board members to support our vision and development as an arts and culture hub in the Outer Hebrides.

This is an exciting opportunity for people who are passionate about culture, Gaelic, and community development. If you have insights, knowledge or skills to share, we would love to hear from you!

Our board members provide vision and oversight for Taigh Chearsabhagh Trust through six-weekly meetings, depending on projects and activities in hand. Some board members are available for direct contact with the staff team (comprising of 4 senior managers and 14 wider team members). We appreciate the varying levels of commitment and experience that people can offer and each of our board members take part in the ways they can, forming a proactive, involved, and friendly team. Our board members each have a key role to play in shaping a sustainable future for Taigh Chearsabhagh at a time of development and change in the arts. Our board members are based both in Uist and in mainland Scotland.

Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum + Arts Centre is a vibrant hub of arts and heritage based in Lochmaddy bay on the Isle of North Uist. Our work centres on reflecting and celebrating Gaelic language and culture, working with our communities to enrich the lives of our people, and offering visitors an inclusive, inspiring, and welcoming environment. We offer vital services to our local community and maintain an international reach profiling the unique ecology and culture of Uist. Taigh Chearsabhagh seeks to be both supported and challenged by the board to ensure we do the best we can.

We are looking to complement and diversify our current board membership, so we are keen to hear from folk who may have skills, interests or experiences in one or more of these areas:

  • Accountancy
  • HR and Management
  • Gaelic language
  • Visual arts in Scotland
  • Heritage / ethnography of the Western Isles

If this resonates with you, please get in touch to discuss further details about working together.

For further information, please contact angusmacnab@hotmail.co.uk (Angus MacNab).

The deadline is Monday 25 March 2024 at 14:00.
