Duilleag: Book club launch event

Taigh Chearsabhagh are thrilled to announce the launch of DUILLEAG, our new Gaelic book club. Kathleen NicAonghais, our Gaelic Officer, and guests will gather to discuss contemporary Gaelic literature and poetry alongside classic texts.

You’re invited to join us in person at Taigh Chearsabhagh to hear about current trends in Gaelic literature with Kathleen, who will also read translations of poems originally written in English by Pauline Prior-Pitt. Pauline will share her her thoughts and experience of having her words translated into Gaelic. Doctor, actor, author and storyteller Màrtainn Mac an t-Saoir will join via Zoom to perform a story. Also joining online is author and broadcaster Seonag Monk from Benbecula, who will be talking about her novel Mìl san Tì?. Kathleen will also announce the first title for DUILLEAG book club to read.

This will be a combined socially distanced live event in the café at Taigh Chearsabhagh with a concurrent Zoom event for people who would prefer to attend online. ‘In person’ numbers will be restricted to maintain social distancing guidelines. The Zoom event will be fully interactive for both readers and listeners. Please book a ticket below to receive a Zoom link, or to register for attendance in-person.

Duilleag is open to all, including those without Gaelic. The conversations will move between English and Gaelic, and some things may be said without translation either way.
