The first title for DUILLEAG book club readers is Hiort by Iain F. MacLeòid. We will meet with the author to share our thoughts on Hiort and hear about Iain’s writing process on the 11th of November. *Unfortunately Iain has contracted Covid-19, so we will delay until January 13th to give him time to recover.*
Hailing from the Isle of Lewis, Iain Finlay’s plays include Whisky Galore, Somersaults (NTS), The Bends (RSAMD), The Devil Masters, The Pearlfisher, I was a Beautiful Day, Broke, Homers, (Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh), and St Kilda – The Opera, a large scale multi-discipline theatre piece which was shown at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2009 and simultaneously in five countries in 2008.
Iain Finlay has been an Associate Artist at the National Theatre of Scotland, a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellow, writer-in-residence at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, and Associate Playwright at the Scottish Playwright’s Society.
Iain Finlay is currently working on a play called Archipelago with French theatre company Eolie Songe, which brings together actors from France, Spain, Turkey and Greece.
The discussion will be hosted online via Zoom by Taigh Chearsabhagh. Booking is essential in order to receive the Zoom invitation. The link will be emailed out shortly before the event begins. Bookings close at 6pm on the 13th of January.
