Join Scottish artist and children’s book illustrator, Kate Leiper, for a dragon-drawing masterclass!
Discover how to create your very own dragon, as Kate (illustrator of ‘An Illustrated Treasury of Dragon Tales’) shares her top drawing tips, along with some inspiring examples of her own work. So whether your dragon is a ferocious, fire-breathing beast or a masterfully mischievous monster, with a sprinkling of expert guidance and plenty of room for the imagination, this is your chance to bring a legendary beast to life on the page.
Sharpen your pencils, fire up your imagination—and get ready to let your dragon roar: RRRAAARRRGGHH!!!
This workshop on Saturday 11th October is for children aged 8 and up and free of charge. Spaces are limited so please book as soon as possible!
There will be another workshop in the afternoon, Sharing Scary Stories, with Paul Bristow, from 1pm. If you are booking both workshops and would like your child to stay at Taigh Chearsabhagh over the lunch break, we will have a supervised lunch table and play in the courtyard. Please email susannah@taigh-chearsabhagh.org to book this additional time.
OH!CON is an annual comic con held in Stornoway, with a bonus hit of workshops this year at Taigh Chearsabhagh. To find out more about OH!CON, head to their website.
To celebrate OH!CON, we’re transforming the office into a comic den! We’ll have comfy cushions and a selection of illustrated novels to read, plus desk space and pens if you want to draw your own. This space will be available until 4pm, for anyone who fancies hanging out with fellow comic fans.
With thanks to the Scottish Book Trust for funding this workshop through the Live Literature Scheme, and to the OH!CON team for sharing their sessions with us.
If you would like to support our continued programming and enable us to keep offering free events, please consider making a donation to Taigh Chearsabhagh.
