Poetry evening + Open Mic with Fiona Moore

We are delighted that Fiona Moore will be reading for us at our monthly poetry evening in June, on Thursday 26th June at 7.30pm. Fiona is a poet, editor and environmental campaigner based in Greenwich, London, and reviews poetry as well as writing her own compositions and blogs.

Our theme for the evening is ‘Islands’ which Fiona also has her own experiences of. You are welcome to bring along a piece on this theme if you wish to read for us at the Open Mic session.

Fiona’s first collection The Distal Point (Happenstance) was a PBS recommendation and shortlisted for the TS Eliot and Seamus Heaney prizes.  Her second book Okapi came out from another Scottish press, Blue Diode, in autumn 2024.  It’s mostly set in Harris, where she went to live for six months in autumn 2019 and got (very fortunately) stuck there during the pandemic. As a member of the team at Magma poetry magazine, Fiona has edited issues on climate change and islands.  She is a member of the new Poetry in Aldeburgh festival committee.

Fiona will also be leading a writing workshop on Friday 27th June, 10.30-12.30. Tickets are free but booking is essential.

If you would like to support our continued programming and enable us to keep offering free events, please consider making a donation to Taigh Chearsabhagh.
