UistFilm presents: Limbo

This month’s Film Friday, UistFilm presents Limbo, an offbeat observation of the refugee experience.  On a fictional Scottish island, a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims. Among them is Omar, a young Syrian musician burdened by the weight of his grandfather’s oud, which he has carried all the way from his homeland.

Written and directed by Ben Sharrock, the film was inspired by personal stories from friends in Damascus, where he studied shortly before the outbreak of the civil war.  With the unwavering dignity of Sharrock’s film characters, Limbo has a kind of magic that connects us through the commonalities of cultures and shared experiences.

Released in 2020, Limbo was mainly shot in Uist and features many local extras. (Free entry for cast members!) Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Book your tickets below using our Pay What You Decide ticket structure, where you simply choose which ticket price you would like to pay during booking. If you would like to show your support for independent cinema, you are also welcome to make donations after the screening.
